The MxL91782 is a highly integrated, low power PAM4 DSP SoC implemented in 4nm CMOS. It enables 1.6Tbps interconnects with eight channels of 200G Ethernet or Infiniband XDR.
The device has high-speed electrical interfaces on both the host side and line side, with eight lanes of up to 200G PAM4 transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) input/output (I/O). In addition, two generations of legacy rates are supported, both 100G PAM4 and 50G PAM4 per lane. An optical module could also support 16x lanes with two DSPs, in a dual-die configuration.
The host-side interface supports 200G PAM4 signaling over channels with a bump-to-bump insertion loss of up to 40dB. The line-side interface also supports 200G PAM4 signaling, for both integrated and external drivers.
The device supports DSP functions including Tx digital predistortion (DPD), Tx pre-emphasis (Tx FIR), Rx feed-forward equalization (FFE), KP4 and (optional) concatenated Hamming FEC termination and monitoring, and a low-power MLSE-Lite detector.
The MxL91782 is available as a known good die with an 8.0mm × 6.0mm footprint, using 150m bump pitch. It offers exceptional signal integrity for 200G PAM4 signals in a compact footprint suitable for next-generation pluggable form-factors such as OSFP, OSFP-XD, QSFP-DD, as well as AOC cable applications.
